Is the jewelry really handmade?
Yes! While I don’t make the chains or earwires by hand, the other metal components are made and assembled by me (Chelsea) in my Bloomington, Indiana studio. I’ve been making jewelry as a creative hobby since 2005 and professionally as Tactile Melodies since 2010, when I graduated Indiana University with my Fine Arts degree.
Do you have a physical storefront?
No, there is currently no Tactile Melodies shop. However - we are carried by a handful of amazing boutiques and handmade shops! Check out our current retailer list here.
What materials are the earwires/chains/metal pieces?
We try to list the materials in each listing, but if you have allergies or sensitivities please contact us about the piece you’re interested in and we will make sure you can safely wear it. We want your new jewelry to bring compliments, not allergic reactions! All ear wires are either .925 sterling silver, 14k gold fill, gray titanium, or gray/brown niobium - a hypoallergenic metal that is safe for many people with other metal allergies. Most silver chains are .925 silver, but a select few are silver plated steel. Copper-tone chains are copper plated steel.

I lost an earring/broke a clasp/etc on my Tactile Melodies jewelry and need a repair. What do I do?
Email us and we’ll fix it! We want you to enjoy your jewelry for a long time, but we know earrings go missing and chains get snagged and break sometimes. We are happy to repair or replace missing parts for a reasonable fee - please send us a photo or description of the piece and we’ll make a plan to make your jewelry good as new!
Do you do custom work?
We are more than happy to make adjustments to our existing designs so they are just right for you - changing a chain length, switching out a type of ear wire or clasp, or using a different metal/color. We even accept custom Constellation orders on a case-by-case basis. Beyond that, we do not typically do custom projects. Email us with your requests - if we can’t make your custom piece, we will try to direct you to another local artist who can!
Can you fix jewelry I bought from someone else?
Unfortunately, we do not do repairs on jewelry made by other artists.
I saw you at a craft fair/art show and saw a piece I loved, but I can’t find it on your website. Can I still get it?
Probably! We don’t have everything listed online, but feel free to email us and ask about the piece that caught your eye. If we don’t still have it in stock, we may be able to make another one for you!
